浅草寺 / Sensoji Temple

観音菩薩を祀っているお寺です。提灯は重要文化財にも指定されています。年間約3,000万人もの観光客が訪れ、日本随一の観光スポットとしても有名です。雷門にある提灯は一度は見たことのある方も多いかもしれません。周辺は情緒あふれる下町らしさが残った街並みが広がっていて浅草寺と合わせて観光することをお勧めします。

This temple is dedicated to Kannon Bosatsu (Goddess of Mercy). The lanterns are designated as important cultural properties. It is visited by about 30 million tourists a year and is famous as one of the most popular tourist spots in Japan. You may have seen the lanterns at the Kaminarimon gate at least once. The area surrounding the temple is full of the emotional atmosphere of a traditional downtown area, and it is recommended to visit this area together with Senso-ji Temple.
