大福寺 / Daifukuji Temple

岩肌を覆うように建設された観音堂、大福寺は、船形山の中腹に佇んでいます。守られている十一面観世音菩薩の表情は長年の海風の影響により確認することはできませんが、観音堂から見える景色はまさに絶景で、天気が良ければ伊豆大島を見ることもできます。

The Kannon Hall, Daifukuji Temple, is built over a rock face and sits halfway up Mt. Although the face of the protected eleven-faced Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva cannot be seen due to years of sea winds, the view from the Kannon-do is truly spectacular, and on a clear day, one can even see Izu Oshima Island.
