長さ3.6メートル、幅2.1メートル、高さ1.8メートルのカメの形をしている巨大な岩です。亀石は現在南西を向いていますが、亀石の頭がもし西を向いた場合には、奈良盆地が沼の海になってしまうという伝説があります。
