宇倍神社は360歳まで生きたと言われている武内宿禰命を祀っており、長寿や子育てのご利益があると言われています。また毎年4月21日には宇部神社例大祭が行われており、「麒麟獅子舞（きりんじしまい）」は無形民俗文化財に指定されています。
