琉球国から特別に扱われた、琉球国新一の宮に認定されている琉球八社の一つで、琉球王が正月に必ず参拝していたといいます。
伊弉冉尊、速玉男尊、事解男尊がご祭神として祀られており、かつて琉球王の鎮守社で切り立った断崖上にあります。
One of the eight shrines of Ryukyu that was specially treated from Ryukyu Kingdom and certified as Ryukyu Kingdom Shinichi no Miya, and it is said that Ryukyu King always visited on New Year’s Day. Izanami no Mikoto, Hayatama no Mikoto, and Kunitokotachi no Mikoto are enshrined as gods, and it used to be a guardian shrine of Ryukyu King on a steep cliff.
