このお祭りは、423年前に合戦の舞台となった大分市の戸次川原で、合戦さながらの「大野川合戦絵巻」を繰り広げるイベントで、大分の子どもから年配者までが誇れるまつりの実現と、戸次川の戦いにおいて戦死された2700余人の鎮魂を目的としています。
フィナーレには戦場で散ったつわものたちの霊を慰めるよう花火が打上げられます。
This festival is an event that recreates the “Onogawa Battle Picture Scroll” as if it were a battle at Tojigawara, Oita City, where the battle took place 423 years ago. The purpose of this festival is to realize a festival that children and elderly people in Oita can be proud of, and to console the souls of more than 2,700 people who died in the battle of Tojigawa. At the finale, fireworks are launched to comfort the spirits of the warriors who fell on the battlefield.
