自然史展示室、民俗展示室、歴史展示室、特別展示室があり、常設展は無料で入館できます。 その他にも、県民文化ホール・埋蔵文化財センター・有形重要民俗文化財指定の民家園・古墳群として有名な西都原にある資料館から構成されています。
