水前寺成趣園 / Suizenji Jojuen Garden

水前寺成趣園は、肥後国熊本藩細川家の大名庭園とされています。 阿蘇の伏流水が湧き出る約10,000㎡池を中心に、ゆるやかな起伏で富士山を模した築山、浮石などが配された庭園は四季折々の自然を楽しめます。 園の北側には細川家の歴代がまつられる出水神社もあります。

Suizenji Jojuen Garden is said to be a feudal lord’s garden of the Hosokawa family of Higo Province Kumamoto Domain. The garden, which has a gentle undulation with a large pond of about 10,000 square meters in the center, where spring water from Aso springs out, and artificial hills that imitate Mt. Fuji, floating stones, and other features, allows you to enjoy nature in every season. On the north side of the park, there is also Izumi Shrine, where the successive generations of the Hosokawa family are enshrined.
