西南戦争で荒廃した熊本城下の復興を願い建設されました。
日本庭園を境内とするこの出水神社は明治11年に肥後細川家初代細川藤孝公ほか３柱を主祭神とし、創建されました。
学問や武道、産業の神として、多くの参拝者が訪れます。
It was built to wish for the reconstruction of Kumamoto Castle town that was devastated by the Seinan War. This Izumi Shrine, which has a Japanese garden as its precincts, was founded in 1878 with the first Hosokawa Tadakata and three other deities as the main deities. It is visited by many worshippers as a god of learning, martial arts, and industry.
