天草市牛深は三方を海に囲まれ、古くから天然の良港として知られており、海の恵みを受けて発展してきた港町です。
例年約3万人の人が訪れる天草の春の一大イベント。
牛深ハイヤ節のリズムにのって、約5,000人の老若男女が牛深の中心街を練り歩くハイヤ総踊りをはじめ、郷土芸能、水産フェアー、迫力満点の漁船団海上パレードなど、様々なイベントが盛りだくさんです。
