「例大祭」は暦本に「金刀比羅祭」とある金刀比羅宮の特殊神事であり、もっとも重要な御祭。
また「例大祭」は金刀比羅宮の特殊神事であり、最も重要な大祭で、江戸時代以前から現在まで続いている歴史が古いです。
午前９時から、御本宮から御神事場まで約２キロメートルを御神輿が進みます。御祭当日は総勢500名、沿道には毎年数万人の参拝者や見物客が訪れます。
