300年以上の歴史を持っていて、鹿屋市無形民族文化材に指定されているお祭りです。
下両高隈地区の青壮年たちによって、二股の雌木とかぎまたの雄木をからみ合わせて引き合う神事で、五穀豊穣と無病息災を願う伝統ある祭りです。大きな掛け声にあわせ力いっぱい引き合う姿は壮観です。
多くの見物客が訪れ、にぎやかな祭となっています。
A festival that has a history of more than 300 years and is designated as an intangible ethnic cultural material by Kanoya City. It is a ritual in which young and middle-aged men from the Shimoryo Takakuma district intertwine and pull against each other with a bifurcated female wood and a hook-shaped male wood. It is a traditional festival that prays for a good harvest and good health. The sight of them pulling with all their might to the sound of loud cheers is spectacular.
