瀬戸内最大規模の海上戦力を保有する集団であった河野水軍の戦勝祈願と祝勝奉賛が由来と言われる北条伝統のまつり見どころは、勇士な海の男たちによる絢爛たる海上絵巻が鹿島周辺で繰り広げられる「櫂練（かいねり）踊り」と北条沖の夫婦岩の「大注連縄（おおしめなわ）の張替え」です。
勇壮な海の男たちによる海上絵巻が鹿島周辺で繰り広げられ、毎年多くの見物客で賑わいます。
The origin of this traditional festival of Hojo is said to be the prayer and celebration of victory of the Kono Navy, a group that possessed the largest naval force in the Seto Inland Sea. The highlights are the “Kaineri Dance” and the “Oshimenawa Replacement” of the Meotoiwa in Hojo Offshore, where a gorgeous sea scroll is unfolded by brave men of the sea around Kashima.
