田辺祭、和歌祭と並んで紀州三大祭のひとつである粉河祭は、粉河とんまか通りで開催される伝統的なお祭りです。華やかに飾り付けられただんじりが粉河とんまか通りを練り歩き、日が落ちる頃になるとだんじりにつけられたいくつもの提灯に火が灯されます。また子どもだんじりや演奏などのイベントも複数行われ、毎年県外からも観光客が集まります。
Kokawa Festival, one of the three major festivals in Kishu along with Tanabe Festival and Waka Festival, is a traditional festival held at Kokawa Tonmaka Street. The gorgeously decorated floats parade through Kokawa Tonmaka Street, and when the sun sets, lanterns are lit on the floats. There are also several events such as children’s floats and performances, and yukata rental is also available, so you can enjoy bon odori in yukata easily.
