どんと祭は、宮城県を中心に行われる正月送りの祭りです。
神社の境内で正月飾りや古神札などを焼き、御神火にあたって一年の無病息災や家内安全を祈願します。
特に仙台市の大崎八幡宮で行われる松焚祭は、300年の歴史があり、裸参りと呼ばれる白装束の参拝者が市内各地から歩いてくる様子が有名で、約10万人の人出で賑わいます。
