神角寺 / Shinkakuji Temple

この神社は九州唯一である鎌倉時代の木彫り金剛力士像や樹齢100年を超える約500本のシャクナゲで知られています。別名はシャクナゲ寺。 千年以上の歴史を持つ古刹で、九州・大分県の中でも、豊後の三大寺院とされています。

This temple is known for its wooden statue of Kongo Rikishi, which is the only one in Kyushu from the Kamakura period, and about 500 rhododendrons that are over 100 years old. It is also called Rhododendron Temple. It is an ancient temple with a history of over a thousand years, and is one of the three major temples in Bungo, Oita Prefecture.
