タヌキの大将・六右衛門と小松島の金長タヌキによる狸合戦という徳島の言い伝えにちなみ、1978（昭和53）年に始まったお祭りです。
会場内に設けられたステージでは、タレントショーやコンサート、芸能の発表などが繰り広げられ、各市町村が自慢の特産品を販売するなど、ふるさと徳島の自然に触れ合えるお祭りになっています。
